1. Successive Vegetable Garden: For my sucessive plants beets, spinach, and eggplant are effected by aphids. Squash are effected by 'squash bugs'. Corn is effected by fungi and other harmful diseases, and broccolli is effected by flea beatles.
2. Since three of the plants I have in my sucessive garden are harmed by aphids there are a few plants in the beneficial habitat garden that will attract lady beetles that eat aphids or the bugs in that would otherwise attack the plants. Fennel, corriander (which is represented by "herb") are attractive plants for the lady beetles. Since Flea beatles are attracted to the broccoli it was said to put a cover on the plant as a method to keep the plant healthy, so I did that instead of placing a plant to attract the bug in this garden. Blue hubbard squash is supposed to a plant that would be considered as a "trap crop" for the summer squash, so this is represented by "summer squash" in the beneficial habitat garden because there is no "blue hubbard squash" selection.
3. Watermellon and blueberry plants attract aphids. This can be dealt with by trap cropping and choosing plants that attract lady beetles such as some of the plants that I have in my benefical habbit garden. The apple tree can get some pests such as apple maggots. This website suggests to just place phereomone baited sticky traps in order to get rid of those pests without having to spray pesticides. Spider mites are attracted to the strawberry plants. This can be naturally dealt with by spraying a mist over the plants to get the spiders away (which also helps water the plants).
4. For the trapping crop, the squash helps ward off unwanted pests that may harm the corn. Planting them next to eachother helps one another this way. For the sybiotic nitrogen fixation the beans will aid in giving off excess nitrogen for the corn to help it grow. Since these two crops can grow close to one another it can aid eachtother.
Summary:
In conclusion all gardens are aiding one another. Some of these crops such as those in the beneficial habitat garden will atract bugs that will then eat pests such as aphids. The successive vegetable garden has all plants that can suceed one another. The beneficial garden has plants that will aid in the vegetable garden to deter pests that may come. The broccoli is covered to deter it's pests as well. In the fruit garden there are diffrent pests that can be avoided using other methods other than pesticides and herbacides. The companion vegetable garden uses crops that naturally aid eachother for trapping crops and sybiotic nitrogen fixation.
