Garden Plans > 2013: backyard landscape w/veggies

About this Garden Plan

Second year vegetable garden in raised beds, total ~350sf (counting 3 new ones going in), plenty for one sharing with family and friends. Organic habitat. Success last summer with okra, white acre peas, tomatoes, peppers, pole beans; moderate success with corn and squash. Poor showing from cukes and cantaloupe. This spring will do early garden peas, beets, radishes, romaine, and carrots. This summer will try Country Gentleman corn, more squashes, the same successes above, starting an asparagus bed, trying a few peanuts, sweet potatoes, yukon golds, dry kidney beans, green onions and same herbs: basil, cilantro, oregano, sage, borage, hyssop, monarda, chamomile, lemon balm, chives. Plus same flowers to pull polinators alyssum, marigolds, nasturtiums, morning glory, petunias, sunflowers, zinnias, dahlias, peonies, cosmos, impatiens. I started with six raised beds, using layered composting. Am adding two medium sized and another larger one. Hopefully will get in drip irrigation for a better summer. Plans here do not show ornamental landscaping I hope to get to in the next year or so since I love backyard "rooms."
