See pumpkin. 6/5/14 3rd sowing, No fertilitzer, as carrots are mid season. 8/23/14 I pulled these about 2 weeks ago, they gave a few beans. 8/23/14 added to center planter after removing potatoes.

Cabbage (Spring Red) 62' 5"1' 11" x 2' 11"6 Seedlings from Wilco purchased 3/9/14, hardened off on front stoop. 5/30/14 Plants seem leggy, about 8" tall. FROM NWT: 78 days. Over the years, we have tested hundreds of cabbage varieties at our London Springs research farm, and Ruby Ball remains a great all season, red cabbage. Firm, 6-8 inch round heads have a mild, sweet flavor and weigh a manageable 3-4 pounds. We have seen Ruby Ball stand unfazed in the garden for 6 weeks without splitting, which allows the gardener extended fresh harvests. Ruby Ball stores moderately well after harvest. Japanese seed. 6/5/14 amended soil with fertilitzer, Dr Earth 5-7-3. 8/8/14 not doing well at all, the chickens have played with these all summer.

All plants received feeding with Dr Earch 5-7-3 last week. 8/23/14 Plant has exploded! It is vining all thru the box and has several healthy blossoms and some fruit starting.

Billie's gift card. 6/18/14 Planted pot from Trader Joes with bone meal on North side of gate. 8/8/14 All plants received feeding with Dr Earch 5-7-3 last week...top of north plant looks like it burned. South plant doing well. 8/23/14 South plant thriving, north plant mostly dead, burned. I cut away all the dead stuff, was about 10", now about 2"

Strawberry 81' 7"1' 5" x 1' 11"- In fall and again in early spring, topdress established plants with rich compost or an organic fertilizer. Allow plants to rest in midsummer. - Slugs can be deterred with straw mulch or traps. Use lightweight cloth or netting to protect ripening berries from birds. - In late summer, remove weeds and withered leaves, and thin runners to no more than 3 per plant. Lift and transplant extra runners.

87"5" x 11"4/12/14 Seeded 4/29/14 Lots of tiny seedlings, thinned lightly, will thin more when matured to 3+" 5/30/14 These do not seem to be growing. FROM NWT SITE: 55 days. This turnip is bright purple on top and creamy white below, and has a white interior. Nearly round, the smooth roots will grow to 5 inches in diameter, but are better eating when picked at 2-3 inches in size. A mild flavored, sweet, carefully selected strain. Adds a nice crunch to fall and winter salads. 6/5/14 amended soil with fertilitzer, Dr Earth 5-7-3. 8/8/14 not doing well, one plant may have fruit.
